Archives & Local Studies Talk Report

On Saturday 21st May 2011 a talk was held in the Dorothy Hess Room in WGC Library. The speaker was Lewis Stockwell who is a research student at the University of Hertfordshire and had agreed to pass on his experience of using the archives at WGC Library and at Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies at County Hall, Hertford.

Our 'social' celebration held at Campus West was extremely well attended with over 60 guests joining us to see how the Where Do You Think You Live? Project was progressing.

Help Us Celebrate!

We are now well over half way through our year long Where Do You Think You Live? project encompassing the oral memory recordings, House Detectives housing research and the photography element of current and archive images of the town.

To celebrate this fact and to enable us to share what has been discovered so far we are holding a social event in the Terrace Suite, Campus West on Thursday 7th April at 7.30pm.

Mill Green Museum Visit Report

On Tuesday 8th March 2011 a group of our House Detectives visited the Mill Green Museum to see the archive material held there relating to Welwyn Garden City and to take in the current exhibitions such as the Brave New Vision: 90 years birthday of Welwyn Garden City and Open all Hours; Shopping in Welwyn Hatfield. This was part of a series of talks and other events that the Trust has been running for the Where Do You Think You Live? project with help from HALS, WGC Library local studies & Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service. If you are interested in finding out more about the history of your WGC home or would like to volunteer to help with someone else's research please do get in touch.
