Free Church event on Saturday 5th April

Following on from the success of the previous drop in event held at WGC Library the Trust is holding another - this time at the Free Church, Church Road, WGC on Saturday 5th April.

As well as displaying some of the material we have already collected as part of the 'Where Do You Think We Worked?' project we are hoping that those of you with any memorabilia relating to WGC's early industries will bring items along for us to scan or photograph so that we can add more to our archive!

The item above is one we were recently sent - an Air Raid Precautions (ARP) official pass for Audrey Owen, who was an accredited member of the Ambulance Driving Section reporting to the ARP Garage in Bridge Road during an Air Raid, dated 11th September 1940. Audrey drove a Shredded Wheat lorry that was used as an ambulance. This item was sent to the Welwyn Garden City Heritage Trust archive by Audrey's daughter Heather C as part of the 'Where Do You think We Worked?' project.
