Loughton Festival and Herts & Essex Architectural Society
On 24th April Tony Skottowe gave a talk to a group arranged by the Loughton Festival & Herts & Essex Architectural Society - the Festival secretary/organiser having come across the Trust's website and decided to book a speaker.
Tony initially showed the DVD 'A Brave Vision' to give a good idea of the development of the town and its underlying philosophy. Then after a coffee break it was open season on questions with the subject area ranging from the history through to current planning issues arising from the NPPF.
"A quick word of thanks for your talk on Welwyn Garden City at Loughton last week. The film was excellent, and the question and answer session was one of the best I can remember. You have a most impressive combination of historical knowledge with practical planning expertise, and that really showed up in the discussion.
We much appreciate your taking the time and trouble to come to Loughton, and wish you well in your continuing efforts to maintain the Garden City’s heritage." David Stevenson (Loughton Festival).
If you would like to book a talk, or even a guided walk for small private groups or planners and developers looking to find out some of the special features of what is arguably the best example of a Garden City in England, please get in touch. A very modest charge is made to help fund the Trust's work.
