New Project - New Office!

The Trust's second community project started officially on June 1st. Entitled 'Where Do You Think We Worked?' it encourages as many people as possible to help us discover the industrial history of Welwyn Garden City during the years 1920-1960.
Tony Skottowe is the project manager and there are two co-ordinators, Virginia Simpson and Vanessa Godfrey, who are working from the new office location at the Weltech Business Centre in WGC. We are grateful to be supported in our endeavours by the University of Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies, WGC Library Local Studies and the Welwyn Hatfield Museums Service at Mill Green Museum.
If you have memories of working for a company located in the town during the above period or have any memorabilia such as photographs, packaging, letters or even products please do get in touch. Our email address for the project is
Should you wish to participate in the project there are many ways to help out. We shall be collecting oral histories, looking into various archives, finding out what it was that attracted companies to the town, what their working practices were, their social activities, and much more. We shall be collecting and collating all the material uncovered with the aim of producing an exhibition and publishing a project diary. Again please use the above email address to find out how you can get involved.
