QEII exhibition at Mill Green Museum

QEII project contributors view the exhibition

Monday 5th October saw a lively morning at Mill Green Museum, when over 30 members of staff, patients and volunteers were invited to a special viewing of the exhibition 'The QEII Hospital... taking a look back'.

The event was arranged by the organisers of the recent heritage project for which a small group of people from the local community, the NHS, Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service, Welwyn Garden City Heritage Trust, and Hertfordshire University, amongst others, came together to capture memories and memorabilia of the old QEII and record its legacy.

Watching a slideshow and listening to recorded memories

Most of those who attended Monday's 'contributors event' had donated their memories to the project and/or loaned objects and photographs, which were featured in the exhibition, and in the new book ‘The QEII- A Hospital’s Story’ by Angela Eserin. They were able to view the exhibition, including a slideshow of photographs donated or loaned to the project and listen to clips from the recorded memories.

As well as offering time to reminisce and share memories, the event also saw the unveiling of a spectacular cake in the shape of the QEII hospital (see below) which was enjoyed by all.
