Polypenco Limited was established in 1957, and engaged in industrial plastic extrusions and machined components and polytetrafluoroethylene. It manufactured massive nylon castings, etc. for the home and export market with associated companies in various parts of the world.

Polypenco Christmas Party - winner of the Polypenco rocket was Frank Barnes (Northern Area Rep and Salesman of the Year 1969). The rocket had previously appeared at the 1969 Annual Sales Conference. Polypenco evening in the Cherry Tree Ballroom - started off with business matters and finished with a knock-out Boat-race competition with teams of eight in a row having - in turn - to down a half pint of beer each in the fastest time. Six teams took part and the bar was drunk dry. The final being curtailed the ladies team was declared the winner!
