Pay increase in a night sisters salary dated 1st May 1967 issued by the Mid Herts Group Hospital Management Committee. The annual salary changes from £746-17-0 to £764-7-0. The hourly rate went from 8 shillings, 10 and five eighths of a penny to 9 shillings 1 and five eighths of a penny. This item was donated by Irene H during the QEII Hospital Memories project.

Joys dad was a member of the WGC Auxiliary Fire Service and also did war work at De Havillands in Hatfield. As he worked in the fire service he was given the responsibility of evacuating everybody out of the De Havilland factory when an air raid was signalled. Joy told us that on the day that the building was bombed her dad "got to the top of the shelter steps as the bomb hit the tarmac and it blew him down the steps but he was luckily unhurt but of course very shaken.
