WGC Band

The Garden City Sound album made by the WGC Band in 1976 - rear cover lists tracks including a march by Daniel Ronget called Howard’s Dream. The cover notes explain that the march came about in 1975 after members of the band caught the imagination of the world’s press by parading in their swimsuits - it was in aid of the band’s uniform fund appeal, but Ronget, after seeing a picture in a newspaper in his home in Switzerland, sent the band an un-named march, with the request that they dedicate it to the person of their choice. It was featured in Thames TV’s ‘A Town Called Welwyn Garden City’ and a viewer submitted a name for it - Howard’s Dream.
